STEVE HACKETT Wuthering Nights: Live in Birmingham release.

On 26th January 2018, Inside Out Music release Wuthering Nights: Live in Birmingham, the new live release from guitar legend Steve Hackett. Wuthering Nights was filmed at the Birmingham Symphony Hall during Hackett’s recent, critically-acclaimed Genesis Revisited & Classic Hackett tour. Available as Special Edition 2DVD + 2CD Digipak, Blu-Ray, Digital album and Blu-Ray in stereo & surround sound, this is a must-have for any prog fan.

This tour marked the 40th anniversary of Wind & Wuthering, Hackett’s last album with Genesis which reached number 7 in the UK album chart. To celebrate Steve and his band played 5 of the best-loved tracks from this iconic album: Eleventh Earl Of Mar, One For The Vine, Blood On The Rooftops, …In That Quiet Earth and Afterglow.

Other fan favourites from Hackett’s Genesis days were ‘revisited’: Dance On A Volcano, Inside & Out, Firth Of Fifth, The Musical Box and the classic Los Endos. This mesmerising show marks the first ever live performance by Hackett & his band of the tracks One for the Vine and Inside & Out, and also includes many of Hackett’s solo fan-favourites as well as material from his latest studio album The Night Siren.

Steve recalls the Birmingham performance… “I’m excited about imminent release of ‘Wuthering Nights’. It felt special to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Wind & Wuthering, the Genesis album I had the most songwriting involvement with and a favourite among many fans. Songs like One for the Vine, Eleventh Earl of Mar and Blood on the Rooftops come across powerfully on this release, which also features other Genesis and solo Hackett favourites along with songs from my latest album The Night Siren… Sit back and enjoy!”

The band are: Roger King (keyboards), Gary O’Toole (drums/percussion), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes), Nick Beggs (bass, stick & twelve string) and Nad Sylvan on vocals plus special guests John Hackett and Amanda Lehmann.

The DVD / Blu-Ray also includes fascinating behind the scenes footage, most of which was filmed on the day in Birmingham. There are also three videos for tracks from The Night Siren: Behind the Smoke, Fifty Miles from the North Pole and West to East.

About Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including Selling England by the Pound (a favourite of John Lennon) and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. With Steve’s extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.

GUNS N’ ROSES ANNOUNCED AS THIRD AND FINAL HEADLINER FOR DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL 2018

ROCK LEGENDS GUNS N’ ROSES COMPLETE DOWNLOAD 2018 HEADLINERS ALONGSIDE OZZY OSBOURNE AND AVENGED SEVENFOLD AT THE UK’S PREMIER ROCK EVENT

Download Festival has today announced its final headliner as the legendary Guns N’ Roses, alongside the previously announced Ozzy Osbourne, and Avenged Sevenfold. The three day festival takes place 8 – 10 June 2018 at the spiritual home of rock in Donington Park, Leicestershire. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk

On the road since April 2016 and over 100 shows later, the resurgent Guns N’ Roses are back and coming to Download Festival. Reuniting last year for the first time since 1993, the inimitable Axl Rose, guitar legend Slash and original bassist Duff McKagan, plus Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese, have been blowing audiences away worldwide on the aptly named Not In This Lifetime Tour, and will stop by Donington on the Saturday night for their first UK Festival appearance of the classic line up on legendary form after selling 1 million tickets across Europe in 2017 alone.

Following the group’s 1985 formation, Guns N’ Roses injected unbridled, unrivalled, and unstoppable attitude into the burgeoning Los Angeles rock scene. The spirit went on to captivate the entire world with the release of their 1987 debut Appetite for Destruction, the best-selling U.S. debut ever, moving 30 million copies globally.  In 1991, the seven-time platinum Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II occupied the top two spots of the Billboard Top 200 upon release. Over the course of the past decade, Guns N’ Roses have performed sold out shows and headlined festivals worldwide following the critically acclaimed release of 2008’s RIAA platinum-certified Chinese Democracy. Six studio albums later, Guns N’ Roses are one of the most important and influential acts in music history and continue to set the benchmark for live performances connecting with millions of fans across the globe.

Download Festival’s Promoter, Andy Copping said:
“It’s great to have this iconic line up of Guns N’ Roses headlining at Download. I am sure I am not alone when I say I have been wanting this to happen for years. It will be an incredible show and will be one of the highlights of the Download weekend!”

Earlier this week Download Festival revealed that The Prince Of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne will be headlining the Sunday night and one of the world’s biggest rock bands Avenged Sevenfold will be headlining the Friday night.  Guns N’ Roses complete the 2018 line up and will headline the Saturday night.

Download Festival is the home of rock music and takes place on the sacred grounds of Donington Park, which have been associated with rock since the eighties. The festival attracts icons of rock to its main stage, plus some of the best and hottest new acts in the world. AC/DC, KISS, Metallica, Black Sabbath, The Prodigy, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot, Linkin Park and many more have all headlined its main stage.

Bloodstock announce more bands for 2018 line-up

Bloodstock announce that WATAIN will bring their black metal ritual to headline Sunday’s Sophie Lancaster stage in a UK festival exclusive.  Frontman Erik Danielsson tells us, “Our last performance at BLOODSTOCK in 2012 was also the final date on the ‘Lawless Darkness’ tour.  The sun was setting while we played and the crowd was getting louder and wilder the darker it became.  A very charged atmosphere.  Eager now to return and see what the eventful years that have passed and the force accumulated since then has done to both us and the BLOODSTOCK crowd.  Furthermore, England is of course sacred ground when it comes to Metal in general, so when performing there, the stakes are always high.  May all those that doubt be impaled upon them.”  Look out for the band’s long awaited sixth studio album arriving on 5th January 2018!

German power metallers, ORDEN OGAN also land a Ronnie James Dio main stage slot on Saturday.  The band released ‘Gunmen’, their fifth studio album, this summer via AFM Records.  Check out the video for ‘Gunman’ here and get a taster of what’s in store for their set in 2018 – https://youtu.be/JPm46Qgyn24.

Atlanta aggrotech outfit, COMBICHRIST also join the main stage bill for an early slot on Friday.  The band have been working on new music after the release of their eighth studio album, ‘This Is Where Death Begins’ which landed in 2016.  Check out the new track, ‘Broken:United’ at the following link – https://Combichrist.lnk.to/BrokenUnited.

Also landing an early main stage slot on Friday are British death/grind four-piece, MEMORIAM.  Combining ex-members of Bolt Thrower and Benediction, MEMORIAM’s pedigree is high.  The band of scene veterans are hard at work on the follow up to their debut, ‘For The Fallen’ released via Nuclear Blast earlier this year.  Check out ‘Reduced To Zero’ taken from that opus here – https://youtu.be/Nmucoieg2Lc.

BLOODSTOCK’s Rock Society tickets become available in the store on Halloween morning, 31st October at 9.00am!  The ‘Rock Society’ is effectively the festival’s ‘Members Club’, offering not only a 10% discount on your weekend ticket (on top of the early bird discount if you purchase the Rock Society membership + ticket bundle option), but all sorts of other cool benefits like priority signing tent access, a Rock Society laminate, access to the VIP Serpents Lair bar, a tour of the backstage & production areas to see ‘behind the scenes’, the chance to meet with the festival organisers, a dedicated hangout area in the Rock Society tent on site, a Rock Society Facebook community where you can make friends and get to know your fellow RockSoc members and plenty more besides.  Full details can be found at http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/pages/rock-society.  Memberships are priced at £75, limited to 300 and sell out almost immediately, so don’t delay if you want to pick one up.

Also now in the store are tickets for our new VANAHEIM campervan field.  Due to increasing demand each year, we’ve made some site adjustments to allow for more pitches.  As such, the new VANAHEIM site is located across the road, directly adjacent to Serpents Lair VIP parking, allowing an increase in size to accommodate 240 campervans, as opposed to just 130.  Campervan pitches always sold through very rapidly, so this allows for more of our metal brethren to join the campervan club.  Tickets for campervan pitches will remain at this year’s price of £60.

With Friday night headliners, JUDAS PRIEST, Saturday night headliners, GOJIRA and Sunday headliners, NIGHTWISH already announced, along with EMPEROR, DEVILDRIVER and NAILS, 2018 is shaping up to be another stellar year for BLOODSTOCK.

BLOODSTOCK’s first wave of Serpents Lair VIP tickets are now SOLD OUT!  The final allocation, the last batch of VIP deluxe packages and a limited amount of VIP upgrades priced at £145 (for those who’ve already bought ‘early bird’ tickets) will then become available on 16th December at 9am in the ticket store.  Mark your calendars and don’t delay if you want to join us in 2018’s VIP Serpents Lair, as they’re moving faster than ever before!

Standard weekend tickets are currently available at ‘early bird’ prices (just £125 for four days of metal fun) so grab yours now at the ticket store if you want to save £20!  In order to keep up with inflation and extra costs in 2018, standard weekend tickets with camping will increase from last year’s £139 to £145 once the ‘early bird’ allocation is gone.

BLOODSTOCK will take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 9th-12th August 2018.  Get additional information over at www.bloodstock.uk.com.

BLOODSTOCK add EMPEROR, DEVILDRIVER and NAILS to 2018!

As we creep into October, BLOODSTOCK is very excited to announce three more bands for 2018!

Joining Friday’s bill in the Ronnie James Dio main stage special guest slot are black metal legends, EMPEROR in a UK exclusive appearance.  Frontman Ihsahn tells us that they’ll be performing a special set based around one of their classic albums.  “We’re finally bringing the 20th Anniversary show for ‘Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk’ to the UK!  We’ll be performing the album in its entirety and look forward to celebrating with everyone at BLOODSTOCK!”  Check out a stream of the atmospheric opus here and get excited for next August – https://youtu.be/Jmlhq5rtFXw.

Also stepping into a main stage slot on Sunday are Californian circle pit kings, DEVILDRIVER.  Frontman Dez Fafara tells us “DEVILDRIVER is playing BLOODSTOCK in 2018 and we couldn’t be more fucking ready to bring the heavy and get the whole festival moving!  We are thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to see everyone there!  Get ready to get the fuck in the pit!”  Check out the band doing what they do best in the video for the title track of their current studio album, ‘Trust No One’ – https://youtu.be/XuVibnWHoLA.

Hotly-tipped, super brutal three-piece, NAILS land a Ronnie James Dio main stage slot on Sunday in a UK exclusive show.  Frontman Todd Jones informs us, “I’ve been following BLOODSTOCK and looking at their advertisements online for the past few years, admiring how great a job the festival does having a great mix of underground bands and some of metal’s biggest and finest.  We’re proud to finally say we’re part of what BLOODSTOCK is doing to fight the good fight!  We’ll see all you motherfuckers at BLOODSTOCK!!!”  Not familiar with NAILS?  Melt your face with 1.31 mins of hardcore intensity via the video for ‘You Will Never Be One Of Us’ – https://youtu.be/hGGGh03jN4w.

With Friday night headliners, JUDAS PRIEST, Saturday night headliners, GOJIRA and Sunday headliners, NIGHTWISH already announced for next year’s event, 2018 is shaping up to be another stellar year for BLOODSTOCK.

Snap up your VIP tickets now as they’re going fast!  The first wave of Serpents Lair VIP tickets (priced £290) and deluxe VIP packages are in the ticket store now for those who want their VIP spot guaranteed.  Luxpads have already sold out, but a selection of Podpads, Bellepads and Octopads are still available.  A smaller second wave and a limited amount of VIP upgrades will then become available on 16th December at 9am.  Don’t delay if you want to join us in the VIP Serpents Lair, as they’re moving faster than ever before!

JOE SATRIANI ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ON JANUARY 12TH

G3 U.S. TOUR SET TO LAUNCH ON JANUARY 11TH

Tour features Satriani, John Petrucci (Dream Theater) & Phil Collen (Def Leppard)

“Beyond the Supernova” Documentary by ZZ Satriani to Premiere at Mill Valley Film Festival – October 14th

Pre-order the album here – https://lnk.to/WHN

World-renowned guitar virtuoso, JOE SATRIANI, announces the release of his 16th solo album, What Happens Next, set for release, January 12, 2018 on Sony/Legacy Recordings.  Just a day prior to the album release, SATRIANI revives his G3 tour entity, inviting Dream Theater’s John Petrucci and Def Leppard lead guitarist, Phil Collen to join him.  The G3 tour launches on January 11 in Seattle, WA and continues across the U.S. before winding up on February 25 in Milwaukee, WI.  There is a special tour pre-sale promotion giving fans the opportunity to buy concert tickets with the new album as well as VIP packages. Visit https://lnk.to/WHN for more information, pre-sale opportunities and specific market pre-sale and on-sale dates.

The new, instrumentally electrifying album features a power trio of legendary status; SATRIANI on guitar and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Country Communion) and drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), the latter reuniting with SATRIANI for the first time since their work in the supergroup Chickenfoot. SATRIANI is once again joined by producer/engineer/mixer Mike Fraser, his frequent collaborator over the last 20 years, on What Happens Next. Fraser is well-known for recording/mixing every AC/DC album since 1990’s The Razors Edge along with his classic works with SATRIANI going back to the release of Crystal Planet in 1998.

These new tracks literally vibrate the soul with an energy rarely found these days. From the dynamic opening track, “Energy”, to the majestic crunch of “Thunder High On The Mountain”, and the easy, sensual cords of “Smooth Soul”. This unparalleled rock-rhythm section gives What Happens Next a depth of groove that sets it apart from SATRIANI’s other work.

Since its debut in 1996, SATRIANI’s G3 tour has featured the world’s greatest guitarists (everyone from Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to Steve Lukather and Robert Fripp) and has become a consistent concert hall sell-out attraction in the U.S., South America, Europe, Australia and Japan. “I could say that I’m surprised at the durability of G3 and how much it’s grown, but in a way I’m not,” SATRIANI says with a laugh, “I think part of its charm and its mojo is in the chemistry of having three top guitarists share what they do on stage. It’s fun, it’s unpredictable, it’s wild – it’s everything you could want in a show.”

In addition to this new album and exciting tour news, a new documentary “Beyond the Supernova” shot by SATRIANI’s filmmaker son, ZZ, makes its debut at the Mill Valley Film Festival this October.  The tour documentary chronicles Joe, along with his band and crew, on their last “Shockwave Supernova” tour throughout Europe and Asia.

Satriani’s Strange Beautiful Music: A Musical Memoir first released in May 2014 will now be available in paperback.  Pre-orders are available now with the official release on November 7, 2017.  The paperback version includes a new chapter focusing on SATRIANI’s last album, Shockwave Supernova. Read an excerpt from the new chapter HERE.

One thing that sets BLOODSTOCK apart from other festivals is festival founder, Paul Raymond Gregory’s on-site RAM Gallery.  In addition to showing selections from his own world-renowned portfolio, Paul invites some of his favourite rock & metal-related artists to exhibit.  This year he welcomes Berlin-based artist and illustrator, Eliran Kantor, who’ll show six pieces of work.  Eliran has created sleeve art for numerous metal artists including Testament, Soulfly, Iced Earth, and Hatebreed.  Returning to the RAM Gallery in 2017 is Orange County artist, Christian Sloan Hall, who show a few of the many pieces of work he’s created for our Friday headliner, AMON AMARTH.  Christian will be in the gallery to sign limited edition prints, which will be available for sale, so come by, say hello and snap up something extra special for your wall.  Also exhibiting will be Daniel P. Carter; artist, musician, and presenter of the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show.  Dan studied at the prestigious St Martins School of Art and has created sleeves for many albums, most recently Me And That Man’s debut (Nergal from Behemoth’s side project), ‘Songs of Love And Death’.  On the photography side, the RAM Gallery is also thrilled to welcome celebrated rock photographer, Paul Harries, who’ll show six photographic pieces from his incredible portfolio.  Adding a new flavour to the gallery this year is Heathen Waxworks.  Their hand-carved 3D candleware in a range of unique designs are based on RAM Gallery-appropriate mythical and esoteric themes; Nordic Storm, Pagan Woodland, Native American, Hammered Horror and Satanic Majesty.  Lastly but not leastly, regular RAM Gallery contributor and luthier Cynosure, creator of hand-made guitars as art, will be exhibiting two brand new bespoke instruments.  One of the new instruments is Saxon-inspired and will sit on the ‘Saxon Wall’ beside pieces of Paul Gregory’s original artwork for the British metal stalwarts.  The other….well, that’ll be a surprise.  Be sure to drop into the gallery to see it!

STEVE VAI TO RELEASE NEW MODERN PRIMITIVE ALBUM ON JULY 7, 2017

Virtuoso guitarist and visionary composer Steve Vai will release “Modern Primitive on July 7th, 2017 through Favored Nations Entertainment, the indie label founded by Vai in 1999. Originally included as a companion disk to Vai’s 25th anniversary release of his seminal “Passion and Warfare” CD, “Modern Primitive” will be released by itself as the 7th instalment of the Steve Vai “Secret Jewel Box,” an ambitious 10 CD box set that was originally released in December 2001. This stand-alone release of “Modern Primitive” will be a limited edition album and has been modified specifically for Vai’s Secret Jewel Box, making this an instant collector’s item for Vai fans around the globe.

Modern Primitive is comprised of material that was written and partially recorded with Vai’s band “The Classified” back in the early 80’s. “The Classified” consisted of Tommy Mars on Keyboards, Chris Frazier on drums, Stu Hamm on bass and Sue Mathis on vocals and keyboards that he formed after his first solo record Flex-Able (1983) and prior to the writing and recording of the music on Vai’s renowned, Passion and Warfare (1990). Vai completed the recording in 2016, 30 years after its inception. The album represents that missing link that exposes the colossal growth period between Flex-Able and Passion and Warfare.

“The music on Modern Primitive was written and recorded with virtually no expectations for its future,” Vai said. “As a result, there was an opening up to a powerful and personal creativity that allowed me to find the most stimulation music I could conjure. So far it’s my favorite album that I ever made.”

Steve Vai Secret Jewel Box copy

Vai’s “Secret Jewel Box Set,” a deluxe 10”x6”x6” gloss black box, lined with red velvet, features compartments for a total of 10 CDs, 3 guitar picks, and a 100-page booklet. Hidden in a flap on the underside of the box in an exclusive CD interview with Steve specifically about the project. Much of the recordings contained in “The Secret Jewel Box” are comprised of various material from dozens of different records including guest appearances, film soundtracks, bonus tracks, a piano reduction CD, and a full CD comprised of choice tracks that Vai contributed to while working with Frank Zappa in the early 80’s. All of the rare and essential Vai recordings that do not appear on his solo records are collected here, with many surprises for even the most hardcore collector. A limited run of 7,000 units of the box set was manufactured and sold out.
